Meet Our Crew

Dr. Michael J. Parker, MD

Dr. Michael J. Parker is the medical director of Bayside Doc’s Urgent Care in Traverse City, Michigan.  Dr. Parker attended Northwestern University and Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.  Trained and Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Parker worked in the Emergency Department for almost twenty years before deciding that he wanted to be able to spend more time with his patients.  Practicing “Urgent Care” combines the best of his training with an excellent “bedside manner”.

 

In addition to his extensive work in emergency medicine, teaching and medico-legal consulting, Dr. Parker was a board examiner and contributor for the American Board of Emergency Medicine.  As head of the largest paramedic program in Illinois and the first medical flight (helicopter) program, Dr. Parker played a dynamic role in the implementation of the Illinois trauma center designation legislation. 

 

Dr. Parker is happily married with four wonderful children, who attribute all of his success to the love and support of his “bride” and family, and the phenomenal staff of Bayside Docs.


Stacy Schafer, RN, BS, IAC  

Stacy attended Northwestern Michigan College where she received her Associates Degree in Nursing and continued on at Spring Arbor College to receive a Bachelors of Science Degree.  She has been the Office  Manager at Bayside Docs Urgent Care since it opened in September of 2001. 


Stacy has been in acute care for fourteen years.  Since then, she has followed her passion of aromatherapy and is currently finishing up her Integrative Aromatherapy Certification and will be offering skin rejuvenation and aromatherapy blends at Bayside Docs.


Major Todd Kreykes, MPAS, PA-C

Todd is a native of Michigan and grew up in Grand Rapids where his health care career started as a Paramedic.  In 1984 Todd joined the Army’s National Guard and has served our country for twenty four years.  In 1996 he completed the US Army Physician Assistant Program and has worked in emergency medicine and family centered care.  He resides in the Kalkaska area with his wife and two children.


Carol Straight, MSN, FNP

Carol is a Nurse Practitioner licensed in Family Practice since 1997.  She has over ten years experience in prevention and management of chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.  Carol's practice includes treatment of common anxiety disorders, myofascial pain conditions, and all routine preventative screenings and health care, with specialty referrals to all of the exceptional specialists of Munson Health Systems. 

Carol and the staff of Bayside Docs Urgent Care understand your time is valuable and will see you with a short a wait time as possible.

Pierrette (Pete) Palmquist, RN, Marketing Coordinator

Pete received her nursing education at Sheridan College in Toronto, Ontario, Canada over 20 years ago.  She moved to the United States in 1983 when she married her husband Eric.

In 2000 Pete moved from South Dakota to Traverse City with her husband and daughter.  She has been with Bayside Docs Urgent Care since 2002 and brings with her an extensive critical care background as well as several years experience as Clinical Director of a Home Health Agency in Rapid City, South Dakota.

As well as working as a Registered Nurse for Bayside Docs Urgent Care, Pete also has the pleasure of being their Marketing Coordinator.  This position allows her to "get the word out" on the best medical facility to visit for all of your urgent care needs, after all it is "where the Dr. waits for you"


Craig R. Sheerin, MMSc, PA-C

Craig is a physician assistant with over 10 years of experience in Emergency, Surgical Critical Care and Urgent Care Medicine.  He is a graduate of Indiana University, where he was on the varsity wrestling team. After graduation, he worked as a software engineer in Wilmington, Delaware and New York City.  He was also a Fire fighter and EMT in Delaware, which led him to pursue a career in medicine.  In 1999, Craig graduated from the Yale School of Medicine with a Master's of Medical Science (MMSc) degree and certification as a physcian assistant.

Craig lives in Traverse City with his wife and 2 children.  He enjoys photography, listening to music and the many outdoor activities available in Northern Michigan.
